- YogaYoga is a set of practices and principles for individual’s comprehensive wellbeing and spiritual growth. Yoga is not only physical stretches and exercises, as commonly is misunderstood, but an age-old intuitive science, that helps us to get to know our innermost self, and to express our potentialities to the highest. This involves the moral and ethical principles of yoga, such as non-violence, the physical yoga postures, or asanas, and various meditation practices. Yoga asanas are gentle and controlled yogic practices, in which movement of the body is synchronised with breathing. The asanas are simple to learn and easy to perform. The practice of yoga has its roots in ancient India where these postures were called asanas, which means “posture.” We teach yoga practices of varying difficulty suitable for both women and men of all ages. The effects of asana practice The internal organs and the endocrine glandular system are gently massaged, stretched and squeezed, in a way which brings the hormonal system of the body into balance. This together with strengthening the nervous system is the main way in which yoga brings physical and mental balance. Ananda Marga’s system of yoga consists of complementary practices which help the individual to…
- MeditationWhat kind of meditation? We offer teaching in the classical meditation technique of mantra meditation, coming from the tantras, meaning liberation. Meditation is a process of concentrated thinking. In essence mantra meditation means the release from worldly constraints through concentration on a given idea. There is also the opportunity to develop your meditation technique and to learn various forms of concentration, breathing control and other elements for deeper meditation. Mantra Mantra meditation is a powerful resource that helps guide the mind on a set path and keeping the mind engaged with a single idea. Sound has the strongest effect on the mind of all the senses, and so the internal sound of a mantra is the most powerful way of concentrating the mind. It focuses the mind on a particular idea – the feeling of infinite peace and happiness. Goal of meditation A common reason why people practice meditation is to relax, but that is actually not the purpose of meditation, just a side effect. The goal of meditation can be described as Self Realisation. When we meditate, we will gradually discover that consciousness, our own conscoiusness is infinite. How some people experience benefits from meditation A feeling of more mental peace Getting more emotionally balanced…
- CommunityOne of the greatest supports through the ups and downs of ones spiritual growth is time spent with others who are treading the path of meditation. In Ananda Marga Copenhagen we have a fantastic community, open for everybody, where we support and share our common interest in spirituality and meditation. Group meditations Every Sunday at 4 pm, we offer colective meditation. This is called Dharmachakra. It provides an opportunity to feel the collective energy, when meditating together. Most people feel that collective meditation gives them a deeper meditation. At Dharmachakra, we also sing together using our mantra BABA NAM KEVALAM, and a spiritual discourse is given for inspiration to our spiritual path and growth. BABA NAM KEVALAM is a sanskrit mantra, meaning Love Is All There Is. Retreats We organize retreats on a regular basis, allowing the participants to go deeper into their spiritual practise, and having a great social experience. Usually a retreat will contain yoga, meditation, lectures, delicious vegetarian food, walks in nature and many other lovely activities. It will normally take place at our farm on the beautiful country side of Holbæk. Womens meditation At the moment we also have collective meditation only for women, once a month in each others homes. We share a female energi, and enjoy and strengthen our relationship. Jagriti life Opportunity…
